MARY GERTRUDE NEWMAN On September 27, 2003 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Mary Newman aged 90 years, of Selkirk, MB passed away peacefully. She will be lovingly remembered by her older brother James Newman and his wife Olive of Calgary, AB and her four nieces, Judy Old (Richard) of Calgary, AB, Joanne Volonte (Raffaele) of Lugano, Switzerland, Janie Smith (Robert) of Calgary, AB and Wendy Sparks (Warren) of Kelowna, BC. Mary was also a favourite of her great and great-great nieces and nephews and over the years she always took a keen interest in their lives. Mary was predeceased by her brother William (Bill) in 1983 and her twin sister Margaret in 1984. She will be remembered for her infectious smile, wonderful sense of humour and love for her family and friends. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, September 30 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 1 at 10:30 a.m. in the Notre Dame Roman Catholic Church, Selkirk, MB with Father Boguslaw Wardzinski officiating. Cremation to follow. Flowers are gratefully declined. Donations may be made in Marys memory to a charity of ones choice. The family would like to thank the staff at the Selkirk and District General Hospital for the compassion and care which they showed to Mary. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk, in care of arrangements.
